Coal and the Environment
Many people around the world are concerned with subjects such as energy conservation, coal and the environment in today’s times. In regards to coal and the environment, burning coal is having many effects on the environment and this will not decrease until we find some way to implement sustainable energy sources instead of coal burning to power our homes, cars and industries. There are many effects of coal burning including the release of greenhouse gases which can cause climate change. Climate change can have disastrous effects on the environment as well as on human life in the future. Climate change can lead to a decreasing of animal life as well on this planet in addition to causing the occurrence of more natural disasters every year. In addition to these effects of coal burning, burning coal can lead to waste products such as uranium and thorium as well as radioactivity which can also be dangerous to all life on this planet.Energy conservation should be a top priority in the world and until some steps are taken to make sustainable energy sources humans may have a very bad future ahead. The impact of burning coal on water sources and the atmosphere have increased in recent years and have contributed to the deaths of many sources of plant life as well as animal populations. Coal burning is one of the worst energy sources that humans use in terms of environmental safety because it produces methane gas which is 21 times more likely to increase global warming. Even the process of mining coal can be potentially deadly to humans as well as the environment. Mining gas releases harmful chemicals into the air and this poses a threat to many coal miners that are just doing their jobs. The release of these chemicals also has many effects on the atmosphere in addition to this. In order to combat these effects many more will have to join the fight against high levels of coal burning.
