Effects of Water Pollution

The effects of water pollution can be devastating to many different habitats across the world including our own. From industrial to agricultural runoff and household waste, water pollution can come from a variety of places that make it hard to regulate the amount of pollution that finds itself into waterways that many animals depend on for survival. The effects of pollution on these waterways include the death of much marine life and even human life around the world. Many people in countries that have little clean water are endangered by the practices of industries and industrial farmers when it comes to polluting waterways. In the United States alone many of the waterways that are polluted are the result of farmers (namely pig farmers in many cases) that have little control of where pesticides and animal waste ends up. This can have an even bigger effect on the population of marine life in the long run if something is not done soon to regulate waste and pollution in farming practices.

Many experts regard land based activities that human kind initiates as the main reason for marine pollution worldwide. If we want to help in saving the planet there are many steps we must take in order to stop this pollution. Some examples of pollution that finds its way into streams and oceans in addition to products of farm activity include oil and solid garbage. Solid garbage such as plastics and other non bio degradable products can be a hazard to many animals that are not considered marine life as well. Many birds have died in recent years because of being caught in various plastics and from eating various plastics. If we all do our part in recycling the plastics we use or disposing of it in a better manner we may be able to help stop this water pollution and also better help in saving the planet.
